What happens when two ambitious women with a passion for women’s health bring their ideas together? They start a practice that is dedicated to repairing and rejuvenating women’s physical well-being and to increase their self-esteem.
This includes, assisting clients low libido, vaginal rejuvenation, vaginismus (tight vaginal entry), Botulinum toxin injections, sexual intercourse issues, leaking bladders and difficulty in defaecation, bleaching of the vulva area for hyperpigmentation, and help with physical appearance of genital area, like labiaplasty.
Dr Nadia van der Westhuizen and Dr Bianca van Wyngaard, who founded NB Aesthetic Gynaecology in Bloemfontein, have been friends for many years and in 2022 they decided to join forces by starting their own practice.
“NB stands for Nadia and Bianca but also serves as the general acronym – important. As the field of gynaecology is very often not seen as important enough,” the doctors expressed.
For them, the biggest inspiration for this was that women often struggle with these aspects of life.
“We feel that women’s health is more than just a general check-up with a Pap smear (this too), but that overall, a woman needs to be treated holistically. Happy wife, happy life!”
We asked why aesthetic gynaecology, and they answered.
“Most women endure a lot of physical changes during their lives. First sexual encounters, childbirth, menopause and also just general ageing. These are all problems that aren’t discussed publicly and might end up causing self-destruction and a loss of self-confidence.”
In the spirit of speaking about things that aren’t often discussed, when the two doctors are out of office they turn their focus on spending more time with their family and friends.
“We try to build relationships with our patients in such a manner that they do respect this concept. Work hard, play hard!” they said.
According to Nadia and Bianca, their biggest challenge in this specific industry is that some people are still conservative and may find it uncomfortable to speak openly about gynaecology.
“Don’t get us wrong, being conservative is not wrong, but in the past, these aspects of women were never discussed and seen as vulgar and something to be ashamed of. We want to change that opinion and make women more aware of their physical anatomy and physiology. God made us wonderful human beings and this aspect plays a major role in a relationship, ones mental and physical well-being. We want women to open up and speak up. This way we can empower women to take control of their own lives.”
The pair have been blessed to have supportive husbands who understand the intricacy of their profession.
“They force us to balance life!”
Bianca and her husband Wilbur love to play Padel and Nadia and her husband Albert love Pickleball.
“We challenge each other and overall love spending time with our kids. We consciously decide to make time for family and friends. Being successful takes a village and we are very grateful for everyone supporting us every day.”
