Inspired by her own story, Adel le Roux founded Della’s Wigs to help ladies believe that they can look beautiful even if they don’t have hair.
Four years ago, Adel had to make peace with the fact that her hair will never grow again. She then decided to tell everyone that she wears a wig despite her own embarrassment at the time. “No one should be shy to tell people that you wear a wig,” expresses Adel.
Her life changed when she realised that there was nothing to be embarrassed about. “I can look as beautiful just the same as a person with natural hair,” she says.
Adel recalls travelling to Durban to buy her own wigs in the beginning of her journey as she noticed that there are not many retailers that sell wigs with value for the money she paid.
“I always had challenges going to the hairdresser who often did not consider your embarrassment of not having hair and then you have to sit in the hairdresser salon with other clients who have their own natural beautiful hair, therefore I consult clients at their own home if they prefer it.”
With specific attention to detail and a heart to provide her clients with the best service and wigs, Adel highlighted that she goes the extra mile for her clients by giving them the choice of where they want to receive a consultation.
“I go to my clients for consultations in their own environment because I know it takes courage to take the step in consulting a stranger in your most vulnerable state,” she says.
Adel enjoys spending time with her family, and loves to spend her weekends at home, in addition to reading, going for walks, painting, gardening and her new love for pottery and boxing classes.
“Teamwork is crucial, everybody in your family needs to give their cooperation with tasks in and around home. When your children is still young and dependant on you it gets challenging to maintain a healthy work-life balance therefore you have to have a good support base,” she concludes.
