05 Join the Lion Lodge Wedding Expo on 5 October, from 10 am – 4 pm, at 2 Leeuwenhoek Street, Hospital Park, Bloemfontein. 05 New parents, parents-to-be, and families with toddlers can expect kids entertainment, informative workshops, and good food during the Pretty Sprouts Baby Fair at the Pretty Gardens Lifestyle Centre. Entrance is free, with the fair starting at 9 am.

10 Get up and get to Bella Casa for the next book introduction. Getting Up Again will be launched at 5:30 pm on 10 October at the Italian restaurant in President Steyn Avenue. This event is perfect for bookworms and food lovers alike.

10 On 10 October, art lovers in Bloemfontein can attend the opening of SOJOURN, an exhibition of contemporary art, carefully curated by the Art Bank of South Africa Collection. The opening takes place at the Oliewenhuis Art Museum at 6 pm. Contact 078 968 4300 for more information.

10-12 From 10 to 12 October, Pacofs will be hosting the Free State Veterans Poetry Festival. The festival includes Free State Veterans Poetry Night, poetry workshops, books launches, and a documentary screening of the history for poetry in the province. Tickets available from Pacofs at R80 per person.

12 The Beautiful Mind Seminar for women is taking place from 10 am on 12 October. The seminar will cover lasting mental wellness and resilience and help women discover how to break free from feeling overwhelmed. Tickets are available from Computicket at R250 per person.

12 The Anglo-Boer War Museum invites you to celebrate its 125th Anniversary of the War on 12 October. Tickets are available for purchase at the museum’s reception desk or on the museum’s online store. For more information, contact the museum at museum@anglo-boer.co.za or 051 447 3447.

15 Middle Water Farm is hosting Liam Black and Jo Black and early bird tickets are R150 from 15 October and R200 per person. Places are limited, first come first served. Children four years and younger enter free and tickets for children five to twelve years old are R95. In conjunction with Cosmos Tours, transport from Langenhoven Park and back can be included at R230. This includes the show and transport. Only 39 places are available. Gates open at 3 pm, Liam Black will perform at 7 pm, and Jo Black at 8 pm.

26 On 26 October, Brian R. Barends and Azania Barends invite you to a feature film based on a stage play character, created by Brian in the early 2000s. It will be screened at E’ Kay’s Place at R50 per person.

26 With summer approaching fast, you might as well get out of the house and get active. The Be Active OCR and Trail Run is taking place at Be Human. The family event consists of a 7 km obstacle race and a 7 km technical trail run. The kids OCR Race has a R50 entry fee, the open race is R150 per person, and R100 for the 7 km trail run.

26 Enjoy a day of family fun at the Bloem Familie Trekkerfees on 26 October. The day is hosted at the Ferreira Museum and starts at 8 am. The all-day event has activities for the whole family and includes a live performance by Daniël Wesley. Entrance is R40 for adults and R10 for children.

1 On 1 November, Jay & Lianie May will be performing at The Buffalo Pub and Grill at 7 pm in support of the Koppieskraal Agricultural Organisation’s firefighting and safety initiative. Tickets are available from Lelanie at 082 780 5464 for R250 per person.
