SHE MEANS BUSINESS: Bianca Smit- OFM, The Sound of Your Life

As the brand manager of OFM, The Sound of Your Life, Bianca Smit has a great passion for radio, brand management, and events. She aspires to make a positive impact, both professionally and personally and her career gives her enough room for all that matters.

OFM has been the heart of Central South Africa for the last 39 years. It has become a household brand that connects the community in so many ways. For Bianca, it is a privilege to work for the brand.

“OFM is not only a trusted voice in the region, but we also aim to provide the best music, news, and entertainment to resonate with our listeners,” she says.

Bianca always knew that she wanted to do something dynamic and creative. She needed to work in an environment where ideas come to life and where storytelling connects people.

“I feel incredibly fortunate to work in an environment where I can bring energy to the OFM brand and see the real impact of a well-executed campaign on both clients and listeners,” she adds.

She explains that challenges are part of the game, as she faces them almost every day.

“Whether it’s a curveball in a campaign or an unexpected encounter in logistics. I was taught to breathe, think on my feet, and be ready to make a plan, and trust my gut. This has always worked for me.”

Being a planner and organiser by heart, makes having a routine an important part of her job.

“It is a mindset. I lean on my family and friends for support and always ensure that I get a bit of me-time. Even if it is a cup of coffee with a friend or a spoil here and there. I remind myself that self-care isn’t a luxury, it is essential,” she says.

When asked what her power outfit is, Bianca boldly states that a colourful, bold blazer, red lips, and a pair of statement earrings is her go to showstopper. “My red lipstick. It’s my instant confidence booster and secret weapon,” she expresses.

For her, being a woman who means business means showing up wholeheartedly and doing the work.  She encourages women to trust their worth, all while embracing their voice, and celebrating both the big wins and the quiet victories.

“There’s nothing better than a good local market outing in Bloemfontein. I love being among people; it refills my cup. I also ensure that I make time for my family and friends, if something is important to you, you find a way to make time for it,” Bianca concludes.
