January Here’s to another madcap outrageous musical comedy collaboration between Macbob Productions and Durban City Orchestra! Following the remarkable success of last year’s season of Classical Comedy, Aaron Mcilroy and Lisa Bobbert return to the stage to boldly go where no right-minded comedians should ever venture – the sacred space of the orchestra. After a successful tour in the UK, Middle East, Europe and Australia, Kevin Fraser, one of South Africa’s most beloved comedians and online content creators, is back in South Africa to present his festive summer show Africa is a Feeling. The former Durbanite, who now lives in Australia and entertains the world with his daily observations and hilarious satires, will take to the stage with a theatrical safari of nostalgic impersonations, heart-warming tales of comedy and ground-breaking rhythms of energy and laughter! This month’s Clansthal Craft Market is set to be full of merriment, as close to 50 crafters will be set up to show off their handcrafted and unique goods ahead of Christmas. Designed to support conscious living, you can shop till you drop from a massive variety of locally made art, crafts, clothing, jewellery, decor and homemade food stalls at this boutique market. If you get there early you can have a light breakfast and stay for lunch while taking a moment to relax to the sounds of music in the rolling garden that offers shade and beautiful sea views. It’s on Sunday, December 10 from 9am to 2pm at 111 Pig & Whistle Drive, Clansthal. All funds raised will be used to support the Clansthal Conservancy’s environmental projects. December 15-24

If you’re shopping at La Lucia Mall over the hols and you’ve got little ones, don’t miss the opportunity to create fun and festive memories at their Photos with Santa sessions. It’s R100 for an A5 printed photo, and R5 from every photo will be donated to Wylie House, Child and Youth Care Centre. You’ll find the set up in the Centre Court on the Lower Level from 10am to 4pm daily. They’ve also got a Gift Wrapping station outside the Truworths Court. For a small donation, the friendly volunteers from Rainbows and Smiles – supporting children with cancer – will take care of your gift wrapping for you!  They’ll be on site from 9am to 5pm daily.

For those who know and love to show their support for Chic Mamas Do Care Durban, you’ve no doubt already been doing some retail therapy at their brand new space in Hillcrest. Those who are new to this remarkable organisation and the selfless group of women behind it, please do consider popping in to their shop at The Colony. You’ll find rails and rails of gorgeous clothing and accessories for sale – all brand new or excellent quality pre-loved items. You can buy outright or enjoy the Swap4Charity (fashion exchange) by bringing four to six items of pre-loved quality clothing and receive chic tokens in exchange to spend. All profits go towards community projects supported by Chic Mamas. Thanks to the publics ongoing support, many communities have been uplifted and countless children have been given a better start to life. If you’re already on vacay and up for the drive, you can beat the heat of summer by sipping on a G & T at the Wild Coast Sun Gin Festival.
