In celebration of Arbor week, local NPO Hearts in Hands were joined at the creche they’ve been refurbishing in Embo by some of the ABSA Durban team who got together to plant fruit trees and vegetables with the excited little scholars that attend this creche.
Says Tracy Klokie, Hearts in Hands Founder, “What a wonderful way to celebrate Spring and this new season for Mbalenhle Creche.
We are so grateful for the support from local business and people in our community that have helped us overhaul this little creche and breath new life into the premises.
And to the wonderful ABSA team for their contribution and connective Arbor week outreach, getting the children involved to help plant the trees and veggies, such an important part of community development is teaching our little ones to pay attention to our environment and the roles trees play in it and how exciting it will be for them to see the trees that they helped plant, grow and bear fruit in the years to come”
Over the past few months, Hearts in Hands have fixed the roofing, repainted, built up the outdoor play area for the children, installed Jojo tanks, and are currently working on raising funds for the interior refurbishment part of their project.
