Apart from lighting fires to braai on Heritage Day, Durban music lovers also flocked to the polo grounds of Shongweni Club to support the most recent Jam in the Park music fest. The popular event, featuring local music talent, supports and helps to raise awareness for The Jess Foord Foundation (JFF) who empower rape survivors through education, prevention and support initiatives. Performing on the day – and in the sunshine – were chart toppers like The Kickstands, Carmen Rodrigues, Pete Guthrie and The Meditators. A portion of the proceeds were given to the JFF to be put towards their rape victim support unit in Hillcrest.
