In an industry often defined by deadlines and data, Heather Flack brings something refreshingly human to the world of accounting.
As the founder of Flair Accounting, Heather has spent over two decades helping business owners feel confident, capable and in control of their finances. Her journey began with a choice between creativity and commerce – a full bursary to study any art form or a self-funded accounting degree. “I chose numbers,” she says, “but always knew I wanted to bring people into the equation.”
After serving her articles in Johannesburg, Heather launched Flair Accounting in Durban in 2003 at just 23 years old. Her goal? To build a practice that empowered entrepreneurs, simplified finance and proved that accounting could be both personal and powerful.
Now over 20 years later, Flair is known for its strong client relationships, hands-on approach and expert guidance. “We’re not just number crunchers,” says Heather. “We’re part of your business family. We celebrate wins, support through challenges, and walk the journey with you.”

While Heather embraces technology like cloud accounting, automation and all the tools that streamline finance, her firm remains rooted in connection. “We still make time for phone calls and coffee catch-ups. Accounting should be approachable.”
Flair’s impact extends beyond business. The firm supports several charities, offering pro-bono services, and Heather mentors young women entering the finance field. “This industry can be hard. I want to help women rise, lead differently, and show that there’s space for compassion in commerce.”
