Movement is medicine

Feel-good fitness starts with what you wear – and how you care for your mental health.

Exercise is one of the most powerful ways to support your mood and mindset. But what you wear while moving can make just as big a difference. Confidence, comfort, and even a splash of colour can be that tiny nudge you need to get going – especially on low-energy days.

That’s the energy behind Mr Price Sport’s She’s Got The Power campaign, a celebration of South African women showing up for themselves through movement, resilience and wellness. At the heart of it is the new Maxed Elite Power Leggings, built for real life with body-sculpting support, four-way stretch, and sweat-wicking fabric that moves with you. Stylish, affordable active wear like this reminds us that looking good and feeling strong aren’t just about appearances – they’re part of how we take care of ourselves.

So whether you’re walking it out, stretching it out, or dancing it out in your living room, remember: movement is medicine. And your outfit? Part of your self-care toolkit.

Need a little nudge?

Movement is one of the most powerful (and underrated) ways to support mental health. Just a few minutes of exercise can release feel-good endorphins, clear your head and reset your day. Here are five simple, equipment-free moves you can do at home, in the park or even on your lunch break – no gym required.

Walk it out – 10 mins

Walking is one of the most accessible ways to lift yourself. Start slow, build up your pace, breathe deeply, swing your arms and focus on the rhythm of your steps.

Mood boost: Clears your mind and reduces anxiety.

Power squats – 15 reps x 2

Stand with feet hip-width apart. Lower into a squat like you’re sitting in a chair, then rise back up. Jump if you’re feeling energetic.

Mood boost: Ups your heart rate and builds confidence through strength.

Arm reaches and side stretches – 30 secs each

Stand tall and reach one arm overhead while leaning gently to the opposite side. Repeat on both sides. Feels amazing in the morning!

Mood boost: Releases tension.

Lunges – 10 each leg

Step one foot forward into a lunge, keeping your knee above your ankle. Push back to start and switch sides. Add a smile – it helps!

Mood boost: Focuses your mind and strengthens legs and core.

Breath AND shoulder rolls – 1 min

Stand or sit tall, roll your shoulders back slowly, and take five deep belly breaths. Inhale through the nose, exhale slowly through the mouth.

Mood boost: Grounds you and reduces stress on the spot.
