Celebrating cultural pride

Community leaders, creatives and beneficiaries of local upliftment initiatives came together for a celebration that blended storytelling, traditional dance and the first screening of the Nyala food brand’s film, that centred on the concept of Ziqhenye – taking pride in your roots, your heritage and the flavours that connect generations.
The narrative reflected everyday life in KZN, from morning school runs to multigenerational family meals, highlighting how food keeps culture alive. Presented at Ku D’ Ta Pier at uShaka Marine World, and hosted by Nyala, guests were treated to a menu inspired by local flavours and family recipes, while a community-driven recipe book featuring 13 winning dishes was also unveiled, preserving treasured culinary memories and celebrating cultural pride for years to come. The evening also spotlighted ongoing investments in education, youth empowerment and cultural preservation across our province, showing that celebrating heritage can be both heartfelt and impactful.
