Pizza, pane and pasta with a deliciously urban vibe

If ever a restaurant lived up to its name, it’s Urban Crust. Facing busy Jan Smuts Avenue in The Parks, the decor at this casually cool spot screams an urban vibe – think black-and-white tiles mimicking city skyscrapers. Meanwhile, the kitchen offers a host of crusty delights. There are loads of pizzas to choose from, along with really trendy artisanal breads with funky names, like Urban White and Urban Gold. The uncommon names of some of the pizzas made us want to order them all – like Gangster Girl for the roasted chicken, peppadews, caramelised onions, chutney and avo; Lekker V for the fresh tomato, eggplant, onions, mushrooms and fresh basil and Gung Num-style for the Asian flavour de-boned smoked pork ribs, bacon, caramelised onions, corn and fresh coriander. We couldn’t resist tasting a whole bunch of them and they were all lick-the-plate delicious. Try them with the gluten-free, cauliflower and zucchini bases too. Fancy a Lady and the Tramp moment this Valentine’s Month? Home-made meatballs are on the menu! You can drink just about anything you like – we highly recommend the coffees and there are some lovely wines too. To complete your meal, you’ve simply got to try a scoop from the gelato fridge. Worth. Every. Lick! Details: urbancrust.co.za and order bread on WhatsApp: 083-702-2729.
