Wink wink

With masks, quite rightly, being order of the day, the focus is all on our eyes, these days. Laugh lines, bags, puffiness … all on show. We’ve found some exceptional products to make sure our eyes look their best.

We’re massive fans of the Laboratoire SVR range … so our first buy is the Liftiane Yeux Levres Eye and Lip Contour. With two ultra-powerful anti-aging ingredients this products works on eyes and lips – it erases wrinkles from the eye contour and lips, puffiness and dark circles as soon as it is applied (R415 from Clicks). If your eyes are dry, sensitive and irritated (too much screen time, anybody?) try SVR Topialyse Palpebral. It immediately and lastingly soothes itching and redness. It’s good for the whole family, too – from babes to gran. (Around R223 from Clicks).

Catrice Liquid Camouflage Under Eye Primer is a liquid, transparent primer that perfectly prepares the lower eye area for concealer. Fine lines around the eyes are visibly filled. (R80 from Dis-Chem).

Big, bold, beautiful lashes. Are they fake. Nope … we’re using RVBLAB The Make Up False Eye lashes Mascara (R370 from select spas & salons. Details: 021-701-2900).

And if you’re looking for length (who isn’t), we suggest Sorbet Way Out Lashes lengthening mascara (R149.95 from sorbet.co.za).

Gatineau Melatogenine AOX Probiotics Advanced Rejuvenating Concentrate is a powerful treatment for the eyes which targets the signs of ageing. Full of goodness – think probiotics, anti-oxidants, seaweed and orchid extracts – your eye area appears brighter, with lines and wrinkles smoothed. (R1295 from Woolies, Truworths and Dis-Chem).

Lamelle Dermaheal Eye Regeneration Cream is an ultra-luxurious corrective eye cream that helps to reduce signs of skin ageing around the eye area. It has anti-inflammatory ingredients to slow down and stop chronic inflammation associated with skin ageing and to help brighten the skin. (R749 from dermastore.co.za).

The one bit of advise you should never ignore? Take off your makeup before you go to bed. This Sothys eye and lip make-up remover takes off even the most waterproof of mascara (and long-wearing lipstick, too). Bonus … it’s completely suitable for contact lens, wearers. (R225.00 from select spas & salons. Details: 021 701 2900).

An under-eye mask never hurt … we fancy this Sorbet Vitamin Brightening one … it really does help with dark circles and puffiness. (R55 from sorbet.co.za).

Brow wow! The Sorbet Browsability Duo Brow Pencil is a two-in-one brow shaper and highlighter has a pencil to fill and shape brows, and a highlighter for the arch to give that wow factor. (R150 from Clicks).

There was a informal survey on Facebook, recently, with viewers asking which mascaras were the most highly recommended. And post after post after post saw Essence mascaras mentioned – with uses preferring them to the more costly options. We’ve tried the Essence Lash Princess mascara, and confirm they’re great. The False Lash Effect Mascara (also available in waterproof) gets a big wink of approval. (R 72.95 from Dis-Chem).

NUXE is another fave of ours … the Nuxuriance Ultra Eye and Lip Contour acts on wrinkles, sagging skin, spots, puffiness and dark circles. So everything, really, which is exactly what we want in an eye-cream. (R541 from Woolworths).

Four fabulous Filorga products we’re rushing out and getting right now.

We’ve used the Filorga Antiageing Micellar Solution before, and it’s one of the best. Clean skin and not a trace of make-up in one single step, with no need to rinse. Perfect (but not only) for when you’re  travelling. (R450.00 from Edgars).

A new discovery is the Filorga Optim-Eyes Refresh express revitalising eye-cream …  a portable eye-cooling stick that gives an immediate refreshing boost to the eye-contour area, any time of the day or night. It  tackles the three main telltale signs of fatigue … visible dark circles, puffiness and fine lines. (R430 from Edgars and Clicks).

If you think your skin’s lacking firmess, you’re not alone. Apparently 32 per cent of women over the age of 30 are concerned about lack of firmness in their skin and this increases to 81% in women in their 50’s. Hello Filorga Lift-Mask Express Lift Treatment. It gives impressive lifting results in less than 15 minutes, so perfect for when you’re needing a quick, much needed boost. (R155 from Edgars and Clicks).

Polluted environments, stressful, frantic lifestyles, poor diet. They all lead to distressed and exhausted skin. We’re talking dull complexion, accelerated skin ageing, recurring imperfections, redness and dilated pores. Filorga Scrub and Detox Intense Purity Foam Exfoliator is the perfect SOS for this everyday skin burnout.  This mousse scrub provides an express skin-detox effect in just five minutes, leaving the skin clearer and smoother and protected. (R530 from clicks.co.zaabsoluteskin.co.za and shopfomo.com).
