Gold Reef City, in association with CANSA, will be hosting several Shavathons over the first weekend in March.

The Shavathons are set to take place on:

  • From 9am to 5pm on Friday, March 6, at the Gold Reef City Casino, main entrance.
  • From 9.30am to 5pm on Saturday, March 7, at Gold Reef City Theme Park Town Square.

The aim is to beat 2019’s R60 000 donation and all donations will go towards CANSA’s care and support programmes for patients, caregivers and loved ones.

This year’s Shavathon theme Hope 2020 is appropriate, as participants will be giving ‘Hope’ to cancer patients, survivors and their loved ones, by showing solidarity in the fight against cancer as they stencil, spray or shave their hair.

Adults need to donate R50 to this worthy cause, while children under 12 need to make a donation of R25 to get in on the Shavathon action.

CANSA provides a unique, integrated service to all people affected by cancer. This non-profit organisation enables research on the lowering of cancer risk, educating the public regarding symptoms, screening and risk reduction, and providing care and support to all people affected by cancer. Its advocacy team performs a watchdog role to oversee South African policy makers and influence important cancer control issues. They also strive to protect the patients’ right to healthcare. Invite all your friends and family, let’s make a notable difference in 2020.
