Our first day of lockdown also happens to be International Whiskey Day … so let’s say cheers to rules being followed, counting our blessings and staying indoors.
Here are some of our favourite Monkey Shoulder and Tullamore Dew cocktails … there really are no rules when it comes to making these cocktails, except to have the most fun possible. In isolation, of course.
GINGER MONKEY
Ingredients: 50ml Monkey Shoulder Whiskey, 120ml Dry Dinger Ale, One Orange Wedge
Method: Fill a tall glass with ice. Pour the Monkey Shoulder and dry ginger ale, then gently stir and garnish with an orange wedge
LAZY OLD FASHIONED
Ingredients: 50ml Monkey Shoulder Whiskey, 10ml Sugar Syrup, 2 dashes angostura bitters, Orange zest
Method: Add monkey shoulder, sugar syrup, angostura bitters and zest to a mixing glass. Add cold dry ice and stir. Once dilution is reached, strain into glass over fresh ice. Twist orange peel over glass
BAD APPLE D.E.W
Ingredients: 50ml Tullamore Dew Original Irish Whiskey, 1 Brown Sugar Cube, 5ml Irish Stout, Three dashes of orange bitters, 60ml Irish cider, mint, apple slices.
Method: In a Collins glass, soak the sugar cube with stout, then muddle. Add bitters and Tullamore D.E.W. Original. Stir to dissolve sugar then add ice. Top with cider and lemon zest and garnish with Mint and Apple
