Celebrating all things funny, Joker’s July comedy festival kicks off this July, at the Theatre of Marcellus at Emperors Palace, with a larger-than-life comedy line-up. Riaad is back into the swing of things, bringing his best comedic offerings to the stage.
Catch Riaad live on July 1 and 2. Next up is Carvin Goldstone with That’s The Thing on July 8 and 9. He returns to Johannesburg with a bunch of stories from Covid, looting and floods.
Alan Committie with Love Factually should not be missed on July 22 and 23 with his hilarious exploration of the battle of the sexes (and the exes). You’re going to love this fresh take on why it’s ok for men and women to be different or the same or in transition.

The Horwood’s Family Market, held at Horwood’s Farm park, 1 Homestead Road in Edenvale, will take place on July 3 from 9am to 4pm. The market runs every first weekend (Saturday and Sunday) of the month. They cater for the whole family including your fur babies. Pets are welcome, but they must be on a leash at all times. Come and enjoy craft stalls, live entertainment and a kiddies play area. There is a variety of food stands and trailers and a beer garden with full bar items and cocktails.

Join BirdLife South Africa for the biggest event in African birding this year, The African Bird Fair 2022. This year they are hosting a hybrid event, meaning the entire programme will be available virtually, but you’re also welcome to join them for the in-person event at Isdell House, in Dunkeld West, Johannesburg.
Come and get to know the BirdLife South Africa team, browse the Shop for the Birds and take a walk around flourishing gardens. It’s going to be fun filled, interactive days. Make sure you diarise July 22 and 23 to enjoy talks by an epic line-up of speakers, exhibitors, and workshops, plus the opportunity to connect with fellow birders across the continent, and the world. Get out in nature and breathe some fresh air. Join in on the guided walk at Kliprivier Nature Reserve. Meet at 7am to leave at 7.30am, at the coffee shop, Precinct Entrance, Peggy Vera Road. All fitness levels are catered for this walk, which takes about three hours. Come and enjoy a healthy outdoor experience and appreciation of nature in the jewel of the south. Bring water, a hat, a walking stick and sunscreen. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes. Cost is R50 per adult and R30 for children.
