Jozi sets the stage for trailblazing jazz musicians 

Jazz in Jozi is a concert series featuring trailblazing musicians Ofentse Moses Sebula, Keorapetse Kolwane and Rorisang Sechele.  Three performances will take place at Chiesa Di Pazzo Lupi, an event space in Melville beginning on Saturday 9th December.

The assortment of bandleaders and ensembles in the concert series is refreshing and audiences will be treated to a taste of the wide and varied influences of Jozi’s jazz landscape. Jazz in Jozi is the culmination of an endeavour to bring a new sound to the conversation that aims to explore the extraordinary dynamic range of South African music presented by the current crop of innovative young musicians. 

South African saxophonist and protégé Ofentse Moses Sebula who’s debut album H.O.P.E (Holding on to Positive Expectations) was released in 2021.  Sebula, a member of the National Youth Jazz Band since 2018 will lead his ensemble on December 9th 

On Saturday, December 10th a performance by Keorapetse Kolwane – SAMRO Overseas Scholarship for voice winner (2017) with her formidable ensemble will present music from her latest offering.

The enigmatic vocalist Rorisang Sechele is scheduled to grace the stage on Sunday 29th January 2023.
