In the month of May, we take the time to celebrate all mothers… Even Mother Nature.

If you love nature and are always keen for an adventure, boy do we have the best event for you this May! Invicta Wildlife Fund invites you to a hike of a lifetime in the Valley of the Vultures.

Did you know six of South Africa’s breeding vulture species are now listed as critically endangered? Vultures perform a number of important tasks which are vitally beneficial to humans, as well as the environment at large.

With the words of Joy Adamson in mind: “Wildlife is something which man cannot construct – Once it is gone, it is gone forever”, the Invicta Wildlife Fund will host a conservation hike to give people the opportunity to learn and appreciate these creatures more.

The unforgettable hike will stretch over two days in the Drakensberg Mountains. On the first day hikers (comfortable with intermediate level terrain) will cover 11km to the Tarn Cave and walk another 11km back to their cars the next day, after which they will travel to Underberg to visit the Wildlife ACT and the vulture feeding station.

The two-day package includes a guide, dinner and breakfast, and a visit to the vulture feeding station. Remember to pack your own snacks and hiking gear (also available for hire).

All the profits from this trip will be donated to the conservation of the critically endangered vultures living in those mountains.

Don’t miss out on an adventure-filled hike with a good cause on 13 to 14 May. The packages costs R2000 a person, and bookings should be made by no later than 29 April.
