The Avril Elizabeth Home for the Mentally Handicapped hosted a successful corporate breakfast to raise much-needed funds in support of its mission to provide high-quality residential care for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
The event gathered influential business leaders and community supporters, creating a powerful platform for engagement and advocacy.
Guest speaker Gavin Sharples, an internationally acclaimed motivational speaker and business management consultant, captivated attendees with his inspiring talk on leadership, purpose, and the importance of responsibility.
Founded in 1970 by social worker Sheila Suttner, the home began with just 21 children in care.
Today, it serves as a cornerstone of support in the community, caring for 154 residents across all ages and backgrounds.
Proceeds from the event will contribute to enhancing the home’s care services and expanding life skills programmes that empower residents to build confidence and engage meaningfully with society.
