Magic, music and a whole lot of fun

If you’re looking for a feel-good family outing this September, The Frog Prince and Other Fantastic Stories at Peoples Theatre should be at the top of your list!

Little theatre lovers (and their grown-ups) are in for a magical treat as this timeless fairy tale gets a fabulous, fun-filled makeover – complete with sing-along songs, colourful costumes and a sprinkling of stage magic.

This enchanting production follows the story of a spoiled princess, a mysterious frog (spoiler alert: he’s really a prince under a wicked spell!) and a lesson in kindness, friendship and seeing beyond appearances. Alongside The Frog Prince, there’ll be a mix of other much-loved fairy tales, all brought to life in one dazzling show.

And what makes it extra special? It’s interactive! Kiddos in the audience will get to play along with the cast – and might even find themselves on stage! Think music, movement and magical memories – this is the kind of children’s theatre we love.

Meet the talented cast

The show features a powerhouse of local performers, including the legendary Luciano Zuppa, who’s been gracing stages for over 40 years and has become a beloved regular at Peoples Theatre.

Joining him is Thokozani TK Jiyane, a two-time Naledi nominee and all-round theatre superstar who’s performed at just about every big theatre in the country (plus you’ve probably seen him in a few TV ads too).

Also taking the stage are rising stars Noluthando Mathebula, fresh from leading roles in The Jungle Book and Sister Act, and Raymond Skinner, whose previous turns as Aladdin and Lord Farquaad earned him serious applause – and a Naledi award.

Behind the scenes, the show is directed by the legendary Jill Girard, with stunning set design by Grant Knottenbelt, choreography by Sandy Dyer Richardson and musical direction by Coenraad Rall. Costumes? Designed by none other than cast member Luciano Zuppa.
