Can’t get enough of mountain biking? Then you will love the upcoming two-day stage race in and around the spectacular De Hoop Nature reserve!
Riders can expect a whole weekend of untamed and challenging mountain biking in a challenge that is definitely not to be underestimated this May. This is an iconic event and distinctively unique in that it gives riders the opportunity to experience wildlife and the unsurpassed beauty of the Western Cape’s flagship Marine Nature Reserve from the saddle.
The action-packed weekend will kick off with a Sunset Scramble to warm up the legs before the first stage … one which showcases the mystical Ramsar De Hoop Vlei and Koleskloof area boasting 57km with 850m elevation, with the terrain including a limestone jeep track and rocky sections in places.
Sunday’s Stage 2 (62km with about 750m elevation) takes riders to Potberg and the iconic Vaalkrans climb, before descending and indulging in the unspoilt coastline of De Hoop Nature Reserve. Riders will be passing Koppie Alleen and can enjoy some wildlife activity on their way back to De Hoop.
The race will take place from Friday 26 May to Sunday 28 May 2023 and the entry fee is R2 500 a person.
De Hoop Collection also offers a 40 per cent discount for a two-and-a-half night stay, with accommodation and meals from around R2299 a person.
