Find your florals

While it’s no secret that flowers can take up a huge part of your wedding budget, it cannot be denied that the right florals can set the tone for the entire day. Floral expert, Cindy Rynhoud from Love Laugh, shares her favourite wedding flower trends for this season …

Pops of colour
We’ve been all about neutrals (white, creams and greens) for a while now, and while we love the simple, classic look there is something wonderful about adding gentle pops of colour. It is a beautiful way to symbolise joy and new beginnings, so don’t be scared to sneak them in!

Dried and preserved
The dried and preserved look is still going to be around for a while. Dried bouquets and statement pieces are still popular in interior design, and weddings can follow suite. This doesn’t necessarily only mean Pampass – there are many beautiful, proudly South African options, including a variety of indigenous, dried fynbos.

Bigger isn’t better
It is easy to get caught up in wedding planning, but you don’t need a huge bridal bouquet or massive centre pieces to make an impact. Keep it simple with bud vases and single stem florals, and small, simple bridal bouquets are a statement on their own.

Go green

While it’s not necessarily a cheaper option, going green is still a favourite. Take it up a notch by stepping away from eucalyptus garlands along the centre of the tables and rather fill a selection of pots with a mixture of botanical greenery.

Throw some love
Environmentally-conscious weddings are not a new trend, but one that we hope will continue to grow. Thankfully we’ve moved past the rice-throwing stage (!), so why not try aromatic leaves (rosemary, eucalyptus) and dried flowers for a biodegradable alternative?

Flowers in her hair
Step aside flower crowns (thank goodness!). We love soft braids with delicate florals (not baby’s breath, rather delicate options like heather) and wax flowers. It’s a lovely way to tie in the theme with a touch of nature in your hair, and the softer and subtler the better!

Make it personal
Many brides feel they have to do things a certain way, but there is no right and wrong. Keep it classic if you want, but if that’s not your vibe, add a little personality and step outside the box!
