Unscripted conversations:
Mrs. South Africa finalist Candice Davis tells us what she’s gained from the experience so far.

WHO IS CANDICE DAVIS?
I’m a proud mother of two wonderful boys, a dedicated wife and the owner of Perfect Ledger Strategic Finance, an accounting firm I’ve been running successfully for six years. But that’s not all – I’m also deeply committed to my foundation, the Empower Youth Foundation, where we focus on raising funds for underprivileged youth, helping them access educational and sports opportunities. I’m also a finalist in the Mrs. South Africa pageant – a journey that has been as challenging as it has been rewarding.

WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO ENTER MRS. SOUTH AFRICA?
It wasn’t just about the title. It was about fulfilling a childhood dream, stepping out of my comfort zone and challenging myself in ways I never thought possible. Have you ever had that burning desire to inspire others? To empower someone to take that bold step toward growth? That’s exactly what I wanted to do. As a young mother at 17, I faced significant challenges, but I refused to let those challenges define me. I went back to school, earned degrees in tax and accounting and eventually built my own successful accounting firm from the ground up. My journey has always been about resilience, determination and the desire to lead by example.

WHAT HAS MRS. SOUTH AFRICA DONE FOR YOU?
Let me tell you, the Mrs. SA brand pillars align so deeply with my values—it’s like they were made for me. They emphasise self-development, community involvement, networking and using the platform to create meaningful change. Through this experience, I’ve gained invaluable skills that go far beyond just social media management. Have you ever struggled with public speaking?
I know I did. But now, I’ve honed my public speaking abilities, improved my personal branding, and learned how to present myself confidently in any situation. The workshops and webinars provided by Mrs. SA have taught me how to plan, manage, and execute events, handle media and press with poise, and even improve my financial acumen. The sense of sisterhood and community upliftment within Mrs. SA has been incredibly empowering – it’s a reminder that we are stronger when we support one another.
