Competition Terms & Conditions

1. The Meel Meester “Cake-Off” Competition is presented by Get It Bloemfontein in association with Checkers.
2. The competition is open to children residing in Bloemfontein within the following age categories:
   • Category 1: 6 – 10 years
   • Category 2: 11 – 14 years
3. Entries are now open and close at 23:59 on 20^th of July 2026.   No late entries will be accepted.
4. To enter, participants must:
   • Submit an original cake recipe containing a maximum of 10 ingredients.
   • Include one secret ingredient from the Checkers product range.
   • Be creative with the cake presentation and decoration.
   • Submit a short video showcasing the final product (cake) and your baking process.
   • Ensure the video file size does not exceed 2MB.
   • Complete and submit the official entry form below together with the recipe and video.
5. Participants under the age of 18 must have a parent or legal guardian (18 years or older) complete and submit the entry form on their behalf.
6. All entries must be submitted before the closing date of 20 July via the official competition platform or method specified by the organisers.
7. A panel of judges will review all valid entries and select 12 finalists across the two age categories.
8. Finalists will be notified by 22 July using the contact details supplied on the entry form.
9. Finalists must be available to attend and participate in the live Meel Meester Cake-Off Final on Saturday, 1 August, in Bloemfontein.
10. Attendance at the final event is compulsory. Should a finalist be unable to attend, the organisers reserve the right to select an alternative finalist.
11. Finalists may be required to recreate or present their cake at the event and participate in related competition activities.
12. By entering, participants and their parents/guardians grant Get It Bloemfontein and Checkers permission to use submitted recipes, photographs, videos, names and images for promotional, marketing and publicity purposes without additional compensation.
13. Entries must be the participant’s own original work and may not infringe on the intellectual property rights of any third party.
14. The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
15. Prizes are not transferable, exchangeable or redeemable for cash.
16. The organisers reserve the right to amend, postpone or cancel the competition should circumstances beyond their control require it.
17. By entering this competition, participants and their parents/guardians agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions.
