This is according to Dr Dané van den Berg, who is a medical doctor at Dr Dané van den Berg Inc., and a Physical Rehabilitation doctor with Greymil and EmoyaMed casualties with Doctor on Call (DoC).
Dr Dané says being able to work in three aspects of medicine (GP practice, physical rehabilitation and acute emergency trauma medicine) is what sets her apart. “It keeps you on your toes and up to date.” She also mentions that being a mom, wife and doctor gives her so much understanding, motivation and love for patient care and what she does.
According to Dr Dané, her family is her safe haven and a “feeling of home”. She says she has the best husband in the world – “he is my home and my comfort, always loving and supportive”. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her parents, husband and two beautiful children, who are three and one. She also enjoys braaiing with friends and taking their two newly adopted German shepherds for a walk.
A moment that defines her is when she started working at EmoyaMed in private practice and with Greymil/DoC. “Each day I look back and I give thanks for the door that God opened.”
When asked what habits or mindset makes her successful, she says, “I love a challenge and I’m motivated to give 110% in everything I do. With Grace we are capable of so much. With a growth mindset we can put effort in to increase our knowledge and capabilities; to always grow and improve ourselves as humans and in our work; and to focus on your own progress… a long-term vision I’m working towards.”
