The wait is finally over and we are delighted to introduce the diverse group of Bloemfontein women who encapsulate female beauty, strength, and resilience – and above all – who have a heart for their community.
Here they are…
ANDRI GROBBELAAR
Andri’s passion is nature conservation and she is the founder and current chairperson of Friends of Franklin, where she promotes nature conservation initiatives in the city. She is also a Research Assistant at the University of the Free State, a wife, a mother, and a student, as she is busy with her Ph.D. She realised during lockdown that she can make a change within her city, she says that she is more of a facilitator of nature conservation.
ANNEKE GREEN
Anneke is a mother to a grade one learner and she says the time spent with her child is the best part of her day. She has been married to her high school sweetheart for the past 25 years. She is the principal and founder of the Pontem Development Centre, which assists children with neurodevelopmental delays, including ADHD, anxiety, low muscle tone, and difficulties with sensory integration. Her passion for children is what drives her and she wants to be a voice for children.
CHANTELL WIESNER
Chantell is a social worker who strives to empower others. She believes it’s her duty to bring hope to those in difficult situations. She is the adviser in her group of friends and the one who always tries to respond with empathy when people come to her for advice. She is a dog mom who recharges when spending time with her dogs, as she feels that people often forget that they need to spend time alone. She loves reading, spending time with those she loves, and learning new things.
DINEO LEKOMETSA
Dineo prides herself on being a go-getter who has a passion for the media industry. She is currently an office manager at a company that focuses on hydraulics, as well as a radio host. She says that being in a male-dominated industry has taught her that regardless of the challenges, there is a lesson every day. She wants to inspire young people and show them that one’s challenges do not define you. She lives by the motto “with hard work anything is possible” and wants others to realise that their dreams are valid.
MARISKA DU TOIT
Mariska is a teacher by profession who lives with the belief that life is short and one should inspire and enjoy it while you still change. She loves animals and taking long walks with her dogs. She teaches at a school in Heidedal and hopes to be a face for the community and to change the lives of the learners that she comes into contact with. She started a pom-pom group in the school and says that the reaction of the children is what motivates her to always want to help them.
MITTAH LEDIMO
Named after her great[1]grandmother, Mittah was born and bred in the City of Roses. She is grateful for the foundation that was laid by her parents and believes that this is the reason for her success during her schooling career. She is currently an assistant director at the Free State Provincial Treasury. When she is not at work she is advocating for plus-size women and tries to help women feel comfortable in their skin with her YouTube channel.
REFILOE MOHLAHLE
Refiloe is a social worker by profession who enjoys helping people and seeing them smile. She is a mother of two boys and works hard to ensure that they are happy and healthy. She is a single mother who has taken it upon herself to advocate for single parents and tries in her everyday life to teach those she gets into contact with, that they should believe in themselves. She is currently assisting people in Jagersfontein after the tragedy that hit them not too long ago.
