Steven Turner is a husband, a father, and an avid golfer. He also is the district manager for Coca-Cola Beverages in Central District based in Bloemfontein.Steven enjoys spending time with his wife Liezanne and his two children, Daniel and Olivia, who he says are the centre of his universe.
“They give me a wonderful sense of purpose,” says Steven.He mentioned that what one does between 5pm to 8am is as important as what you do from 8am to 5pm.
“I try get to the gym 2-3 times a week, and physical activity requires careful planning with family commitments, travelling and long hours at work. My weekends are sacrosanct, and Sundays are mostly spent at home relaxing with family.
I am a sports fan and also enjoy reading when time allows. I love to travel, and I am privileged to be able to take my family away for a few little holiday breaks or long weekends whenever I can,” he explains.
He further states that it is imperative to set boundaries during the week.
“I do this by not scheduling any meetings before 8am and blocking out my diary from 5:30pm to 7pm. I spend this time with my kids kicking a ball outside, doing puzzles, playing board games, reading, having dinner at the table, and helping them get ready for bed.”
His wife runs her payroll business from home, and they get to finish their admin in the evenings when there are no disturbances.
His advice to aspiring entrepreneurs is continue learning, take care of themselves, ignore the pessimists and generally be good people.
“Manners, integrity, work ethic and meaningful relationships never go out of fashion. Treat people the way you would like to be treated. Simple as that,” concludes Steven.
