Fidelity Ambassador, Tendai ‘Beast’ Mtawarira initiated a food parcel project to support the Phoenix residents affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“This is the second Durban-based food parcel initiative in collaboration with Beast and his foundation. As the Fidelity Ambassador he has been doing some exceptional charity work during the pandemic not only for staff but also for members of the public,” says Fidelity ADT District Manager for KwaZulu-Natal, Vaughan Pillay.

The food parcel initiative was held at a local church in Greenbury Drive, Phoenix and was attended by people in need of food and other necessities. These residents were invited by the Treasure Lee Foundation who worked closely with Fidelity ADT in setting up the initiative. The event started at 2pm on Friday, 28 June and all social distancing rules and regulations were strictly adhered to.

The event started with an introduction and a prayer followed by some safety tips from a medical representative and a few words of encouragement from Tendai ‘Beast’ Mtawarira. He was also joined by fellow Sharks player, Craig Burden, who helped hand out the food parcels. The two Sharks players along with Vaughan Pillay were stationed in a Fidelity ADT trailer from which the food parcels were handed out to young and old Phoenix residents.

“It was a humbling experience to see so many people in desperate need of assistance and again emphasised the importance of large corporate organisations getting involved and assisting those in need. We are fortunate to have a supportive Group CEO, Wahl Bartmann and an equally supportive ambassador on board with initiatives of this nature,” added Pillay.

This food parcel event follows several other sanitisation initiatives conducted at no cost at various SAPS offices, SPCA’s and other centres for people in need. The sanitisation initiatives were done in collaboration with the Fidelity Cleaning Services and involved deep cleaning, defogging and sanitisation,

“Fidelity ADT genuinely have a heart for the people of Durban. I would like to thank all parties involved for their assistance and look forward to more of these initiatives going forward,” concluded Pillay.
