Tastes of Clifton…

Sun-bronzed skin. A warm Summer breeze. Soft golden sand. Icy, clear water that refreshes like no other. That’s Clifton. And we don’t need to be heading there these summer hols … we can just make ourselves a cocktail with the new Clifton gin.

Created by SA born Silvana Bottega (who describes it as liquid sunshine in a sip), the gin’s already won two gold medals. There are two versions … Clifton 1 and Clifton 2 (just like the numbered protected coves of Clifton beaches). Clifton 1 is a sipping gin, all orange and lemon peel, lavender and fynbos, and is best served on the rocks. Clifton 2 – the cocktail gin – is eminently mixable. With hues of the sea, it’s all about marine and fynbos botanicals, cucumber and buchu, all working in harmony to capture the spirit of the Atlantic Ocean.

The gins cost between R429 and R498 a bottle and you’ll find them at good bottlestores or on cliftongin.com
