Grimaldi’s Restaurant

The Italian-inspired restaurant at Cotswold Downs, is a sister restaurant to Grimaldi’s in Umhlanga that is currently voted the number one restaurant on TripAdvisor for both Umhlanga and KZN. This Italian fare is surrounded by rolling hills, indigenous bush, world-class golfing, spectacular birdlife and free-roaming antelope!

At Grimaldi’s, every ingredient is selected for seasonality, freshness and flavour. The menu explores contemporary ways of paying homage to Italy’s timeless flavour profiles, combining a unique personal touch of innovative dishes and classic service.

Whether it be a casual get together enjoying wood fired pizzas and Italian dishes like Pollo Involtini, tender chicken breasts stuffed with spinach, prawns and Parma ham or a celebration and indulging in fine seafood such as the Linefish Thermidor, where fresh line fish is topped with fresh cream, black mushrooms and Vermouth, dusted with imported Parmesan and mozzarella and baked till golden brown  or choosing something off the specialties board to excite, such as Sous Vide deboned lamb neck served on wood fired root vegetables with a red wine jus, Grimaldi’s Cotswold is sure to delight. Open daily from midday to 9pm.

Clementines Café

Due to recommendations from the residents of Cotswold Downs, there is now a great sushi menu available at Grimaldis, and a new eatery; Clementines Café, which draws on the expertise of its sister restaurant Jack Salmon in Glenashley.

Run by the Grimaldi’s team, this eccentric café offers both traditional and creative breakfasts and an assortment of delicious lunch options. It too has incredible views and offers an elegant yet relaxed environment that is all about great affordable food, and a place to connect and catch up.

The flavourful menu includes breakfast items such as Eggs Benedict, Smoked Salmon Scrambles, Savoury Mince and Eggs on sourdough bread/toast, and Gourmet Sourdough Toasties. For lunch there is a tasty selection of offerings ranging from roasted veg salads to poke bowls, such as Norwegian Salmon served with your choice of sticky rice or salad greens to good old beer-battered fish and chips to lamb curry and basmati rice. There are also sweet treats, pasta items and a kiddies menu.

With its tranquil setting, Clementines Café is a great place to meet with friends, host business meetings or just indulge with coffee and a slice of cake. Open daily from 7am to 4pm.
