For those struggling to find meaningful work because they didn’t finish high school, there’s good news! It is possible to get your Matric certificate and move towards a brighter future.

If you are older than 21 years old and did not finish writing your matric, or have already obtained a qualification but wish to improve your result, you have until February 8 to register to write the 2024 Senior Certificate (adult matric) examination with the Department of Education.

The Senior Certificate (SC), accredited by the Department of Basic Education, is an equal qualification to the National Senior Certificate (NSC), but while the NSC combines examinations and the school-based assessment to reach a final result, the SC is based only on examinations and is widely accepted by tertiary institutions and employers alike.

The SC gives adults another chance at a matric so that they can pursue further studies, apply for entrepreneurship programmes or enter the formal workforce.
