More than 100 women flocked to Barker Manor in Kloof to support the Jes Foord Foundation’s annual High Tea to raise awareness around gender-based violence, and officially launch the organisation’s fundraising initiative for the JFF Rape Crisis centre. The event was supported by leading local paediatrician Dr Nadia Khan, who spoke on ‘Finding yourself amidst the Chaos’, and a handful of Mrs South Africa semi-finalists who are committed to the cause. Jes Foord also shared her courageous story … the driving force behind how the foundation started 16 years ago, leaving guests inspired, empowered and ready to make a change in the world. Thanks to the many helpful hands on deck, including event organiser Candice McGrail, a whopping R70 000 was raised on the day. Next to the crisis centre, the JFF’s biggest goal for 2024 is to encourage more people to join their R100 Club for which funds raised go towards trauma counselling and comfort bags for rape victims. If you’d like to support this initiative, call 066 440 3604 or visit www.jff.org.za
