Durbanites wil fall in love with Eliza Doolittle when the world’s most loved musical, My Fair Lady, will be performed at The Playhouse Company’s Opera Theatre. The show features songs like ‘I Could Have Danced All Night’ and ‘Wouldn’t It Be Loverly’ plus other favourites from this classic musical. The show will run from March 8 to 16. For those who love the outdoors, Durban Hiking and Adventures has added a new route to their calendar – a Honey Trails Hike that explores the beauty of Monteseel and the Honey Hill Nature Reserve. Honey Trails offers hiking, running and cycling opportunities for you to experience the natural beauty of Honey Hill with its surrounding forested valleys which were previously inaccessible. The hill has been left in its natural state for more than five decades making it a refuge for wildlife, a haven for birds, a sanctuary for wild flowers in the veld and home to some truly magnificent trees. The hike is on Saturday, March 15. Meet at 6.45am for 7am at Honey Trails in Monteseel. There’s a family-friendly 5km option and a 15km challenge for avid hikers. For the 5km it costs R89 for children under 13 and R129 for adults and for the 15km it’s R149 for children under 13 and R199 for adults. Bring a backpack with snacks and water or juice and a raincoat in case. Hiking/ walking shoes or takkies with good grip are a must. Well-behaved pooches are welcome on this hike. Gather your friends and take your Irish A-game to the sixth annual St Patrick’s Day Pub Crawl. The party bus sets off from Waxy O Connor’s in Westville and does an epic crawl around Durban, stopping off at all the Irish pubs celebrating St Paddy’s Day. Dress-up is compulsory as it’s part of the fun, and the theme is traditional St Patrick’s Day – green and black, Irish hats, skirts, dresses, wigs, face paint. Prizes will be dished out for best dressed, so dress to impress. The event kicks off on Saturday, March 15 from 1pm and tickets, which are limited to 60 people, cost R400 each. Tipping off the sporting year is the successful KZN SPAR Schoolgirls’ Hockey Challenge, which was started back in 2011 as a vision of Les Galloway from SchoolGirlSport. Fifteen years later, the tournament has had 130 victorious teams hoist their trophies after their regionals, and this year the trend continues as the first of ten hockey tournaments take place at Curro Hillcrest with the Highway regional on Saturday, March 8.
