The annual dance spectacular Shall We Dance returns to The Playhouse Opera for five performances, showcasing more than 100 dancers from studios across Durban. Audiences can look forward to a vibrant celebration of dance, featuring more than 10 styles, colourful costumes, dynamic choreography and a lively soundtrack. International dance stars Egor Kondratenko and Mie Lincke Funch return for a second appearance, fresh from competing on the European and Asian dance circuits. 19-20 September
South Africa’s National Team of Comedy, Bafunny Bafunny, returns with two nights of stand-up at the playTSOGO Globe at Suncoast as part of the South African Festival of Comedy. Presented by Savanna, the show features a line-up of some of the country’s best comedians, including Eugene Khoza, promising an evening of sharp wit, relatable stories and plenty of laughs. The comedy collective is captained by Trevor Noah, although he does not perform in the show. The event is restricted to adults aged 18 and over. Don’t miss it. Details: quicket.co.za

24 September
Celebrate Heritage Day with an afternoon of live music at Old Mutual Music at the Lake in the Durban Botanic Gardens. The concert features Sjava, Simmy and the Q Twins, three KZN artists whose distinctive sounds showcase the richness and diversity of South African music. Pack a picnic blanket or camping chair, bring along your favourite snacks and drinks, and enjoy a relaxed afternoon of music in one of Durban’s most scenic outdoor settings. Up ahead 3-4 October
Nature gets a creative twist at Monster Alley, a family-friendly outdoor experience that uses imaginative monster sculptures, poetry and artwork to highlight the hidden threat of invasive alien plants. Wander through a self-guided Monster Hunt at your own pace, discovering colourful creations by local artists and school learners while learning how invasive species impact our natural environment. Educational talks will take place on both days for those wanting to delve deeper into the topic, with all donations supporting the conservation work of the Hillcrest Conservancy. Reconnect with nature, creativity and community at the Earth Artisan Festival, in support of Westville Conservancy.
