16-19 July The 2026 Kaleido Polocrosse High Goal Tournament brings a high-energy mix of elite sport, social atmosphere and family-friendly entertainment to the KZN countryside. The four-day tournament opens on July 16 at the Durban Shongweni Club with team practices and a formal cocktail gala evening, featuring team introductions, auctions, live music and the official welcome at The Barn at Westown. From July 17 to 19, action on the field takes centre stage with four games per day, featuring both men’s and ladies’ high goal matches at set intervals throughout the day. Entry is free, with spectators encouraged to enjoy a relaxed outdoor setting complete with a food court, bar, kids’ play area and live entertainment running into the evening. Each day builds on the next, with Saturday featuring a lively “Yellowstone” themed party and mechanical bull challenge, while Sunday culminates in the much-anticipated car versus horse race, followed by final prize giving and live music. Blending fast-paced sport with a vibrant social programme, the tournament offers a full weekend experience for both families and sports enthusiasts.

19 July The Amashova Durban Classic celebrates a remarkable 40 years this year, marking four decades of one of KwaZulu-Natal’s most iconic cycling events. Taking place along Durban’s roads on Sunday, July 19, this landmark edition honours the race’s legacy of community, endurance and road cycling tradition. Since its inception in 1986, Amashova has grown into a much-loved fixture on the national sporting calendar, attracting elite cyclists, social riders, charities and first-time participants alike. Riders can choose from 106km, 70km or 40km routes. The 106km Classic starts at Pietermaritzburg City Hall, while the 40km route begins at Westown Square in Shongweni. All distances finish at the Masabalala Yengwa Pedestrian Bridge in Durban, bringing the event together in a unified coastal finish. Details: shova.co.za
