Dance lovers took to the floor recently at Northlands Bowling Club in Durban North for a barnyard-style fun and fundraising Ballroom Dance Extravaganza. Featuring a mix of ballroom, Spanish, Irish, Latin, line and Argentine tango dancing, the event aimed to promote the sport and encourage enthusiasts to join in, while raising funds for dancers competing in the European Line Dance Championships in Belfast in April. Evening highlights were performances by senior ballroom champs Mark and Edlena Leslie-Smith, current SA Honky Tonk and Country and Western Champion Jerome Edwards, adult ballroom dancers Juanita Pillay and Prince Dladla, and World and European Line Dancing Champion Kevin Ellis who, together with Gareth Greaves and Extreme Model Management, also coordinated two fashion shows.
