Preparing hearty lunches doesn’t have to be complicated. These two recipes are quick, tasty and perfect for school lunches, sports days or study snacks. No fancy skills required – just a little confidence and creativity and recipes that tens can make themselves.

No-Bake Berry Oat Bars

Prep time: 15 minutes + chill timePerfect for snack breaks

You’ll need: 1 cup oats; ½ cup peanut butter or almond butter; 2 tablespoons honey; a handful of dried fruit or cranberries

Optional: Chocolate chips or seeds

How to make it: Mix everything together in a bowl until sticky. Press the mixture firmly into a small lined container. Chill in the fridge for 30 minutes. Cut into bars or squares.

Top tip: Wrap individually and keep in the fridge – they last all week!

 

Crunchy Chicken & Cheese Wrap

Prep time: 10 minutesNo cooking needed (if using leftover chicken)

You’ll need: 1 wrap or tortilla; a handful of cooked chicken (rotisserie or leftover); grated cheese; lettuce or baby spinach; sliced cucumber or tomato; mayo or sweet chilli sauce

How to make it: Lay the wrap flat on a clean surface. Spread a thin layer of sauce over the wrap. Add chicken, cheese and veggies. Roll it up tightly (tuck the sides in first!). Slice in half or wrap in foil or wax paper for your lunchbox.

Make it your own: Swap chicken for tuna, ham or even leftover roast veggies.
