Cocktails just got fancy
It’s not new – it was created by brothers Paul and Raymond Lillet in the village of Pondesac, in the heart of France’s famous wine-making Bordeaux region, in 1872.
It’s low in sugar and alcohol. And it’ll make you go ooh la la! Launched in SA last month, this French wine-based aperitif is a brilliant rose colour and is all berries, orange blossom and grapefruit. You can drink it straight up on its own as a chilled aperitif – a drink to open the stomach before a meal – as the French prefer to do.
Or try it in a signature Lillet Rosé Tonic cocktail … pour 50ml Lillet Rosé and 100ml of tonic water over ice in a tall wine glass, garnish with a wedge of lime, or with a slice of grapefruit and a sprig of thyme. C’est délicieux! Book club just got fancy!
It’s rolling out to Solly Kramer’s, PnP, Tops at Spar, Makro, Ultra Liquors and Woolworths for around R399 a bottle. #LilletSA #ItsProunouncedLeeLAY
