Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup cornstarch (aka cornflour)
  • 2 Tbsp liquid soap
  • 1 tsp baby oil (any oil should work)
  • a few drops of gel food coloring

Method

  • Mix all the ingredients together. It’ll take quite a bit of mixing for it to start coming together.
  • Knead the butter slime once you start seeing the food coloring get more evenly distributed. Be careful though, because the food coloring could stain at this point. You’re looking for a smooth, play dough-like consistency.
  • If it’s too sticky, sprinkle a teaspoon of cornstarch over the ball and knead in. Repeat this until you get the texture you want.
  • If it’s too dry, add a few drops of either the oil or the liquid soap.

Let’s play!

The kids can play with it as they would with any other butter slime. Unlike play dough, it won’t hold it’s shape for long but you can squeeze it, roll it, flatten it and twist it; it looks and feels the same.

And when it’s bath time, take it with and let the kids give their toys a bit of a scrub. They will love it! Butter slime play soap is a fun idea for mixing up your typical bath routine.
