With lockdown starting tonight at midnight even the older kids will start to get grumpy in a couple of days. Vacation is fun, but not when you can’t be out and about.
Local parenting blogger Justamamma shared a fun and quirky DIY volcano experiment that even older kids will love.

- Lemons
- Baking Soda
- Food Colouring (Optional)
- Dishwashing Soap (Optional) Needs to be a gel.
- Plate
- Craft Sticks or something blunt to poke your lemon with.
What to do:
- Place 1/2 a lemon on a plate to catch the mess. Juice the other half to add to the erupting lemon volcano later.
- Next, take your craft stick and poke holes in the sections of the lemon.
- Optional: Now drip a small amount of food colouring into the different sections. Alternating colours gives a fun effect.
- Optional: Pour dishwashing soap all over the top of the lemon for added foam and bubbles!
- Finally sprinkle a generous amount of baking soda onto the lemon. Get the eruption going by pressing down some of the baking soda into the different sections of
the lemon. - Watch your lemon volcano go!
