  1. Double up on shampoo: For a deeper clean, try double shampooing – the first shampoo removes superficial dirt from the hair, allowing the second shampoo to penetrate deeper to remove sebum and grease.
  2. Sleep on silk: Banish bad bedhead situations in the morning by swapping out your cotton or linen pillowcases for silk. The smoother fabric causes less friction when you toss and turn during the night, which means less frizz and breakage and fewer tangles. Unlike cotton, silk is non-absorbent, so it helps your hair retain its moisture content as opposed to absorbing moisture from your hair.

Invest in at-home treatments: While you do want to visit the salon regularly with a trim to encourage growth and remove split ends, you don’t want to spend a fortune on weekly treatments…so just do it at home. Give your hair a weekly spa experience without forking out big bucks by choosing at-home treatments and masks to give your locks some love and added nourishment.
  4. Be gentle on wet hair: Hair is at its most fragile when it is wet, and can easily break if handled too roughly. If you are guilty of rubbing your wet hair with a towel, stop! The friction can cause serious damage. Rather pat your hair gently or wear an absorbent wrap to absorb excess moisture. You also want to use a wet hair detangling brush to avoid breakage.
  5. Spoil your scalp: Paying attention to the skin on your scalp will result in healthier and shinier hair. A healthy scalp regime is two-fold: the scalp requires regular exfoliation to ensure dry and dead skin cells are removed, and regular hydration and nutrients in the form of a mask or treatment.
