Join us on Mandela Day

South Africa national flag on leader's palms isolated on white background (clipping path) for human rights, leadership, reconciliation concept

Nelson Mandela gave 67 years of his life fighting for the rights of humanity and Mandela Day allows us the opportunity to play our own part (even if just a small one) in making the world a better place.

What are we doing?
Siyakhula Creche & Pre School, 10 minutes North of Ballito, cares for over 140 children every day. The school is in need of some ‘fixing up’ and the children (from newborn to six years) need clothes, blankets and food.

How can you help?
Bring your family along and donate 67 minutes with us. You can donate either your time on Mandela Day or anything from the ‘wish list’ below – or do both!

Wish list:

  • 2 x swings to be erected on the existing wooden structure (timber kindly donated by Coastal Timber);
  • Curtains;
  • Repair of the perimeter fence;
  • Treats for us to take with the kids (eg cupcakes and juices);
  • Children’s clothing age 0 to 6 years old
  • Blankets
  • Non-perishable food (specifically mielie meal, tinned fish, beans and sugar)
  • Soccer balls

On Mandela Day, 18 July
Come and donate some time at the school by lending a hand with repairing jungle gyms, hanging curtain rails and curtains or just interacting and playing with the aftercare kids.

RSVP & drop off
Please let us know if you are able to join us on 18 July ([email protected]) so we know how many people to expect. If you would like to donate something from the wish list, please drop items at the Get It/North Coast Courier offices in Ballito (upstairs from the Ballito Vet on Ballito Drive) before 17 July.

“There can be no greater give than that of giving one’s time and energy to help others without expecting anything in return.” Nelson Mandela
