At its heart, The Market is about supporting local and celebrating good food, creativity and community. Pop in for a few essentials, stay for lunch, meet friends for a drink or settle in and enjoy the music.

The Market’s retail offering is filled with independent businesses and local finds. Home Grown is an organic, health-focused space offering fresh, locally sourced seasonal produce, wholesome pantry staples and a carefully selected range of healthy foods.

Yoli’s Bakery is a favourite for freshly baked treats, as well as wonderful breakfasts and lunches. During the week, there’s an added reason to linger over brekkie or coffee, with The Market’s resident pianist playing from 10am to 12.30pm.

Stock the fridge and freezer with convenient, wholesome meals from We Are Food, Mia Coquina Café keeps things social with breakfasts, juices, smoothies, coffee and sweet and savoury plates, while Science of Coffee gives the market its artisan coffee edge.

Discover a delicious variety of seasoned olives from Olive-a-Twist, or indulge in something sweet from Chocolate & Fudge. Orchids & Exotics brings a beautiful botanical element to the mix, with striking plants and exotic greenery.

Then there’s Wozza Meat – a proper butchery offering quality cuts to take home, alongside delicious freshly prepared meals to enjoy right there in The Market.

And when the mood calls for a cold drink and something a little more pub-inspired, Waxy O’Connors is the place to settle in for a few drinks and great upmarket pub grub.

Scoop Ice Cream brings nostalgia in seasonal flavours, waffles and milkshakes. The Curry Bar serves fresh curries, bunnies, rotis and samosas that speak to South Africa’s love of spice and shared meals. Bite the Bao serves flavour-packed bao buns and Asian-inspired fare, while Street Food delivers relaxed, satisfying meals. FISH serves up classic fish and chips, and Bird & Co. is a firm favourite for chicken strips, burgers and pizzas.

What makes The Market special, though, is its more than what you can buy or eat… It’s the shared communal tables, the familiar faces, spontaneous catch-ups and the sound of live music filling the space.
Live music over the weekends has become part of The Market rhythm – grab something to eat, order a drink, find a seat and enjoy some of the wonderful talent that calls this part of the world home.
On the third Thursday of every month, Open Mic puts local and aspiring artists in the spotlight, giving emerging talent a platform to perform alongside more seasoned local musicians. It’s community supporting community and exactly what The Market is all about.

Celebrating Life, The Ballito Way.
