Liesel Thomas, Director at Bloemsec, oversees the daily operations in the company. Among her roles, she does the planning and monitoring of the day-to-day running of the business with the help of her co-directors and managers.
Reflecting over the past 20 years, Liesel recounts that being a part of Bloemsec since the very beginning has had a huge impact on her life. “That first day will forever stay with me. The first few years of hardship that followed while establishing the Bloemsec brand made me the passionate person that I am today. I will never forget the excitement in the office of adding new clients every month and seeing Bloemsec signboards in the streets of Bloemfontein!”
Liesel is a firm believer of a positive mind-set. She believes that being positive is a decision that needs to be taken every day because negativity will never reap positive results. “A positive work environment is contagious and we really strive to be vibrant and positive at Bloemsec.” Apart from that, Liesel also maintains self-control. “I believe to stay calm and levelheaded in a crisis situation enables you to make the right decisions.”
Liesel stresses the importance of thinking outside the box when it comes to ensuring success. “Every problem is an opportunity. I love problem solving and I encourage management and employees to ‘think outside the box’ every day.” Appreciating the small things every day, and giving praise where praise is due, is just as important to Liesel.
Liesel as well as her Bloemsec team are constantly evolving in the security industry and are always thinking of new ideas to add a unique dimension to their business. “Bloemsec has a Bloemsec App where clients can stay in direct contact with Bloemsec without contacting the office for any queries.”
Liesel takes time to herself by exercising, reading, and spending time with her family and her beloved dogs.
“This year we want to give back to loyal clients, and honour loyal personnel. We also want to give back to the community who has supported us,” she concludes.
