With over two decades of experience in logistics, Sydney Kgware serves as the Distribution Manager for Coca-Cola Beverages South Africa (CCBSA) in Bloemfontein.
Holding an Honours degree in Business Management from the University of the Free State, Kgware brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the role, having worked in inventory management, warehouse operations, distribution, and planning across several leading companies, including Micor Logistics (now part of Supergroup), SAB, Afrox, and Saint Gobain.
Despite limited career options, Kgware’s drive and determination have seen him excel in his field. “I have never had many options,” he admits. “If I couldn’t do what I am doing now, I would have been a lawyer.” He did not even consider another career.
Balancing professional and personal life is a significant challenge in today’s fast-paced business environment, particularly for Kgware, whose role demands a 24-hour commitment. “At the moment, this is one of my biggest challenges,” he says. “I do gym three times a week on a good week and go hiking on Saturday mornings with my family. I believe there is no better time away from work.”
Navigating through obstacles is part and parcel of building a successful business. Kgware highlights a particularly challenging experience: “The change of the ERP system was one of the biggest challenges we had in the last twelve months. Going back to the basics and anchoring process adherence is what worked.”
For aspiring entrepreneurs, Kgware’s advice is grounded in practical experience and resilience. “Many aspiring entrepreneurs look up to established businessmen for guidance,” he notes. “Drawing from my own experiences, my advice is to remain steadfast and focus on process adherence.”
Outside of his professional responsibilities, Kgware enjoys hiking, gym sessions, watching movies, bowling, and travelling. Despite his busy schedule, he makes an effort to find time for these activities.
