Born and raised in Bloemfontein, Sentricia Louw is an easy, fun-loving person who takes pride in being just a girl, but there is so much to the lifestyle connoisseur and events extraordinaire.
The lifestyle and events entrepreneur does not believe that it can’t be done. Sentricia describes herself as someone who finds multiple ways to get something done, especially when she’s told that it is not possible.
“Well, as a girl who likes things and always had big dreams, I’ve always wanted to be in the lifestyle business so when the opportunity to take over Ekhayeni came, we jumped at it. Ekhayeni then paved the way for BlackDoor experience, which has been such a lifelong dream of mine as I’ve always wanted to host a lifestyle event,” Sentricia said.
Sentricia’s children are her inspiration in everything she puts her mind to, especially her twin girls. “I’m the type of mom who wants to show her baby cubs that they do not have to conform to societal norms. They do not have to conform to any standard that the world puts out for them and to know that even as a woman, you can still do it all!” says the lifestyle entrepreneur.
In today’s fast-paced world, it can be quite challenging balancing a healthy life between family and work life and being in the field that requires most of her attention, Sentricia mentions that the only way that she can keep grounded, rooted and balanced, will have to be being present.
“As a child, my parents could never come to any of my sporting events or extra-murals due to work. I vowed to always be a present mother because I know how it feels to score a goal and your parents aren’t there to see it, so no matter how busy life gets, I find the time,” she said.
A good book and read is something this businesswoman finds peace and comfort in. “I enjoy getting lost in a book, music is also my escape. I live for good music and when I get the chance with proper planning, I attend live shows.”
It is often said that a woman who prays is a woman who never gives up hope. That is why Sentricia added her recipe for success has to be praying. She further added that praying is where she draws her strength from.
On a lighter note, Sentricia is the ‘girl-next-door’ with a hint of sass. When asked what is in her handbag, she mentioned a “plump lipgloss to pucker up and extenuate my small lips,” but she redirected Get It to what’s in her car because that is where the real tea is.
“Let’s rather see what’s in my car, an entire change of shoes, sunglasses, a charger, and perfume for between meetings with possible clients and loved ones. Floss and mints because who wants bad breath?”
Sentricia completely looks forward to the future for herself as well as the business, Ekhayeni. “I am looking forward to more events that involve some sort of carpet,” she gushed.
