SHE MEANS BUSINESS: Anchen Lintvelt – OFM

Anchen Lintvelt is the Sales and Marketing Manager at OFM, the Sound of Your Life! When she is not closing award-winning deals in and outside of the office, she enjoys cooking for her three children who are “always” hungry and inspire her to make good food.

“We eat around a table every day. It’s our family time. I also love to go for a run every now and then. I love a good chick flick and I love to travel,” she expresses.

Anchen’s passion for life is emphasised by everything around her.

My life has been a challenging, emotional, yet overcoming and rewarding experience. I grew up without a father, who passed away when I was very young, but I am privileged to still have so many other important people in my life and strive to live a life every day that will make my people proud.”

The 43-year-old has been working for OFM, which is part of the Central Media Group, for the past 18 years. “Although it’s not my own business, I treat it as it is. I started as an account executive, then worked myself up to a Key Account Executive for the whole group, then regional manager for the North West OFM sales team.

In 2019, I was promoted to OFM Sales Manager and in 2023 I became the head of the sales and marketing department. I manage a sales and marketing team of 19 people. We travel a lot, we see lots of different businesses and industries, we play golf, we raise funds, we raise awareness, and we create,” explains Anchen as she reflects on her illustrious career at the radio station.

Before this, she excelled in selling beauty products to clients. That is when she realised that a career in sales would be rewarding.

“I never knew that I would have so much love and passion for radio and all the opportunities that come with it. It’s like going to work every day but not working, rather having fun, learning, teaching, consulting and growing. I always wanted to know more and learn more. I was never afraid to ask questions or take risks,” she highlights.

Making time for her family in all of this is also a top-priority for Anchen who says that she rarely works after hours unless it is needed.

“When I take my laptop home for work, I leave the charger at the office. This way I only have limited time to work, if I have to, I work until the battery dies. This prevents this workaholic from working right through the night!! I also think it is important to show your children that working is not punishment. To work is a privilege. To work is living out a passion. But they also need to feel they share in the successes and their support contributes to it.”

To prove that she definitely means business, Anchen has found a formula for success in her creativity and works on it every day.

“I have a very creative mind. I am driven by it. Whether it’s for an OFM campaign or for an advertiser. When I set my mind to something, I will get it done. Over the years I have gathered so much information about this industry that it comes naturally to me … I have labelled myself as the “brain behind the campaign” and take full ownership, responsibility and pride in it. A radio station must provide things and events and experiences that change lives,” she says.

Anchen has a humble approach to how she does business as she prefers to be hands on and behind the scenes.

“I work behind the scenes. I do love acknowledgement, but I prefer to be the one giving it to others. And every day when I drive to work, I have a short conversation with the Lord. Never start a day without Him. He is after all the Provider of all of our abilities, talents and privileges,” she concludes.
