The proud owner and founder of Kay Nail & Beauty Bar, Kefuoe Mophethe, started her business from her home 15 years ago, with just a dream and her love for beauty and self-care. Today, she employs over 15 young women, empowering them through meaningful work and mentorship.
Kefuoe leads with purpose, discipline, and heart. Her passion and love for the beauty industry has shaped her business into the success it is today. “I truly love what I do, and I believe that with faith, dedication, and hard work, anything is possible. My faith in God, and my belief in my calling makes me a woman who truly means business,” she expresses.
Being a business woman was not always part of her plan. She had dreams of being a nurse, but a visit to a salon changed the course of her destiny. “It was during my matric year that I walked into a salon and instantly felt drawn to the creativity and transformation happening there. From that moment, I knew I wanted to create beautiful spaces and help others feel their best.”
The 43-year-old has mastered the art of balancing her work and personal life. This makes room for her fun and outgoing personality while being grounded and reserved when she needs to. For her, it is all about being intentional.
“I give my all to work during the day, but when evening comes, it’s time for family. I intentionally make space for my sons and my personal life outside of work hours. It’s all about setting boundaries and making quality time a priority,” she explains.
She balances being a hands-on mom and wife all while running the thriving beauty business in Bloemfontein.
“There have been many challenges, whether it’s financial strain, self-doubt, or tough decisions, but what always carries me through is my faith in God. Believing that He is with me in every season gives me strength to keep pushing forward, no matter how tough it gets,” she adds.
When her schedule allows, Kefuoe enjoys going out for coffee to take a quiet moment for herself. No matter how busy or calm the day is, she’ll always have her cellphone and lip balm with her.
“It may seem small, but it helps me recharge and refocus. I make time by carving out small, intentional moments of rest in between the chaos,” she shares.
