Kemelo Mosia, the HR Manager at Emoyamed Bloemfontein Hospital, is a powerhouse in human resources, blending empathy with strategic precision.
With over a decade of experience, primarily in healthcare, Kemelo’s journey began with a B.Comm in Human Resource Management and an Honours in Industrial Psychology from the University of the Free State.
“My passion lies in transforming workplaces through ethical leadership, emotional intelligence, and strategic HR practices that empower staff to thrive,” she says. Her move into healthcare HR was driven by a desire to make a tangible impact on employee well-being and patient care.
At Emoyamed, Kemelo oversees a workforce of 161, managing payroll, recruitment, compliance, and employee engagement. She spearheads equity and skills development, advises line managers, and crafts policies aligned with labour laws. “I’m responsible for the full HR function in a fast-paced hospital environment,” she explains.
Kemelo’s HR calling sparked during an internship at Central Media Group, where she saw how thoughtful processes transformed workplace dynamics. Mentors at Mediclinic later honed her strategic leadership. “I’m results-oriented and deeply people-focused,” she says, balancing decisiveness with empathy to navigate complex challenges while ensuring fairness.
Kemelo’s resilience shines through in her self-care routine: early morning journaling, walks, and family time keep her grounded. “Mental wellness is a priority – I reflect on what went well and unplug without guilt,” she shares.
Outside work, Kemelo recharges with loved ones, nature, and HR literature. Always carrying a notebook for insights, she remains organised and inspired. Reflecting on her childhood dreams of teaching or psychology, Kemelo notes, “Those aspirations still live on in my HR career, where I guide and shape professional journeys every day.”
