As a digital marketer at Digital Platforms, a software solutions and digital services company within Central Media Group, Dale Neethling now works in an environment focused on innovation, helping businesses grow through custom software, websites, e-commerce platforms, mobile applications, and digital marketing solutions such as SEO and social media marketing.
Stepping into a new chapter at Digital Platforms, Neethling has traded the familiarity of sales for the fast-paced and ever-evolving world of digital marketing and technology.
For Neethling, the career move was about more than just changing industries; it was about challenging himself personally and professionally. “With my background in sales, I felt a strong need to broaden my knowledge and take on something different,” he says.
“Transitioning into the digital space was about stepping out of my comfort zone and seeing how I could apply my experience to an industry that is constantly evolving.”
Although still settling into his new role, Neethling’s days are already packed with research, prospecting, networking, and connecting with potential clients. He spends much of his time building relationships on digital platforms while finding creative ways to assist businesses in reaching their goals.
Despite entering a new field, he believes the foundation of his work remains unchanged, namely putting people first. “I have always tried to assist clients to the best of my abilities. I genuinely want to help people find solutions to their problems,” he shares.
Neethling’s journey to this point has not followed a straight line. After finishing high school, he pursued his passion for cricket and spent a gap year playing club cricket in England. Returning to South Africa, he found himself navigating uncertainty before eventually entering the motor industry, where he learned valuable lessons through hands-on experience. “When I came back home, I didn’t have many options, so I started working in the motor industry and learned as I went,” he recalls.
Today, Neethling defines success less by titles or achievements and more by the ability to create balance, support loved ones, and positively impact others. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his girlfriend, family, and friends. A passionate sports fan, he also enjoys going to the gym and occasionally training in boxing.
For young men trying to find direction in life and work, Neethling believes discipline matters more than temporary motivation. “Keep your head down, work hard, and try your best to find something you are passionate about,” he says. “Most importantly, choose discipline over motivation. Motivation fades, but discipline is what keeps you moving forward when things get tough.”
