When she moved to Bloemfontein, Ansulene Prinsloo thought she had left her purpose behind. Instead, she discovered a new one. Today, through JUSTBLiSS Naturals, she is helping people embrace natural alternatives while proving it’s never too late to reinvent yourself.
“Everything in my garden looked dead after the first Bloemfontein frost. But when spring came, new leaves appeared where I thought everything had been lost. Somewhere in that process, something shifted in me too.”
That moment became the beginning of a new chapter for Ansulene.
After moving from Port Elizabeth to Bloemfontein in 2019, she found herself grieving the life she had left behind, her career in academia, her sense of identity and the community she knew. What began as an attempt to soothe her skin in the city’s dry climate led her to make natural soap. One product became two, and before long JUSTBLiSS Naturals was born.
Today, the business has grown into a trusted natural lifestyle brand, offering practical alternatives for everyday needs. She believes her greatest strength lies in combining three worlds: years of academic research, a passion for teaching and the business insight gained through her MBA. “People are overwhelmed by information,” she says. “I want to do the research and make natural alternatives practical for everyday life.”
Looking back, she sees moving to Bloemfontein as the defining moment that reshaped both her career and her life. “Sometimes you have to lose the version of yourself you knew before you discover what else you are capable of becoming.”
A self-described builder, she has always measured success by the people she leaves stronger than she found them. Whether mentoring students in lecture halls or empowering her team today, she believes growth starts with knowledge, curiosity and courage.
Her advice to women is simple: never wait for the perfect moment. Build strong foundations, keep learning and never allow failure to define your story.
Away from the business, she finds peace in her garden sharing a glass of wine with her husband, family or close friends. For her, that is her kind of bliss.
